Bib & Sola

Bib & Sola (meaning drink and comfort in Latin) is a new brand that has just joined Discover&Deliver which is finally officially launching on Monday 19th March. Nearly 2 years after the idea was originally born, by wonder woman Isabel Rutland we shall be open for business!

I wanted to share a couple of images from our shoot last week, a sneek peek for you to see what we are going to be selling on our site....

These Murano glasses are all hand made, and a percentage of each sale goes to The ONE Foundation.

You can buy a set of six water glasses with a carafe...

Just a water glass....

Or a glass and carafe...

You can read more about Bib & Sola and The One Foundation here.

Day 8 - LAX to LHR

So after brunch in Silver lake it was time for me to head back to London. I have never been on such a mammoth hunt for all things beautiful. My week was more successful than I could have hoped, a whirlwind 4 nights in New York followed by another 4 in Los Angeles, I have found a new game, who makes the coolest room key card...

LWSY back in London...

Day 7 - Waking up in Santa Monica

I'm writing this after a week of being back in London. It took me a week to fully unpack my suitcase let alone update LWSY on my last two days so I shall be brief. Day 7, I was done in! Totally shattered, but I knew I had a fun day ahead. Not having a car in LA was quite the challenge.

I woke up super early as per usual, to the sunniest sky I'd seen in months, and wolfed down my breakfast by the pool, what a pool. I have to say, one unusual thing I noticed about the Viceroy is that while the sun shines brightly in the morning over the pool, the hotel building blocks the sunshine come lunchtime, which doesn't make the Viceroy the most desirable spot for a sunbathe. Good job I was just there on business. I barely had a moment to dip my toes in any pool that I saw!

After an hour of emails and preparing for my days appointments I was all packed up (again) and off to my next Location...

Back to Shutters on the Beach for a meeting with the Sales Team, and a day time tour of the hotel...

It would have been rude not to have at least popped my head into Shutters' older brother hotel, Casa del Mar, just next door, and after a quick peek of the place it was time to say bye bye to Santa Monica, hello Hollywood. I had the best cab driver who instead of taking me the usual route took me through some fabulous areas showing me who lived where, and which house was his favourite, such a cool guy. He made me promise one day to go to Catalina.

In classic Hollywood style, my final stop was the Roosevelt, clearly half the guests thought they were in Vegas if the pool action had anything to go by...

Given that I arrived on a Saturday, my images are of no use here, so thanks to Brandman PR in NYC for the images below here...

The beautiful Cabana Suites....

Personally, I'd say only go if you can stay in a Cabana Suite with views out on to the pool with a little terrace at the back. This hotel is BIG.

This is the Spare Room with it's 2 lane bowling alley. I tried to sneak in the next morning but all was locked up sadly....

The private dining room at the back of the main bar and restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel...

Some of the more luxe suites...

This was my room...

A quick shot of the pool in the middle of the night...

This was me lying on the floor staring at the palm trees, I COULD NOT stop staring at the palm trees!

Through here to the fitness centre...

This has got to be the best room of the hotel....

So once I got to the hotel, checked in and took in a mini tour of the hotel, off I went to explore the crazy town that is Hollywood. Over a week into my trip and I needed some down time, I found some Hollywood stars, bought a postcard or two and found myself the biggest slurpy I could get my hands on...

During the evening I was taken to Geisha, and then the club Premier. A true night in Hollywood, so the locals told me.....

Goodnight Hollywood, tomorrow was to be my last day....

Day 6 - West Hollywood to Santa Monica

Palihouse is the older brother to Palihotel where I stayed the night before. Part hotel part private residence, this hotel sees people stay for just the weekend or you can rent their apartments for months at a time. About a 30 minute walk from Palihotel I was here to be given a tour, but of course had to sneak in a quick breakfast there too....

The living room area turns into a full blown party place in the evenings, with different DJ's playing throughout the week, I loved seeing the place but was still perfectly happy to have chosen to stay at Palihotel...

Fantastic courtyard...

Coffee bar

I walked passed Nobu on my way to my next meeting...

Trust me to find this place!

On to Jean de Merry, where I met the man himself. We just signed JDM up at D&D so it was great to talk him through what we are working on, and to see all his pieces in one place. I visited the NYC showroom last week in the design building but to see the original store was a real treat...

Now, another really really long walk (add 30 minutes because of course I got lost) and I found myself at the Pacific Design Centre, and I thought the New York D&D building was big...

But it was totally worth it, as I found some real treasures, and in particular found some pieces of furniture that I had been looking for in Ralph Pucci that David Collins has used in some of his hotels...

Onto the Melrose Project, a curated space full of amazing antique finds, as recommended by Jean de Merry...

I was so pleased to pass by Jasper. This is Michael S Smith's brand, which also housed the Vaughan collection of lighting.

Back to my hotel to check out, and after stopping by The Grove, on to my next hotel, The Viceroy Santa Monica, my first hotel where I was greeted with a glass of champagne, yums...

I think I got an upgrade without realising it because I didn't expect a room like this! With a view like this...

Huge bathroom...

Impressive selection of goodies here, don't be fooled though, you touch you pay...

The corridor outside my room, with a rather special PVC seat!

Through to the lift...

The lobby...

The hotel has the most amazing courtyard, with heaters so you can sit here for dinner too...

I'm sat in one of those cabanas now as I type this...

This is Whist, where I ate last night, amazing amazing food...

I then did something I have always wanted to do (Something about being British and watching too much OC, but...)

Hello Santa Monica Beach...

Little did I realise my hotel was about a 30 second walk from Shutters on the Beach, a hotel I have always wanted to visit...

I honestly didn't think Zoltar existed!!! (BIG?!!)

Sunset from the beach, and then I walked back to Shutters for a glass of wine. Dinner at Whist then bed time for me...

I am going to have more of a relaxing day tomorrow, after my meeting that I arranged with Shutters, but I still have one final day and night in LA, and on to the Roosevelt Hotel I shall go for my final stop....

Next stop, Hollywood...
