Palihouse is the older brother to Palihotel where I stayed the night before. Part hotel part private residence, this hotel sees people stay for just the weekend or you can rent their apartments for months at a time. About a 30 minute walk from Palihotel I was here to be given a tour, but of course had to sneak in a quick breakfast there too....
The living room area turns into a full blown party place in the evenings, with different DJ's playing throughout the week, I loved seeing the place but was still perfectly happy to have chosen to stay at Palihotel...
Fantastic courtyard...
Coffee bar
I walked passed Nobu on my way to my next meeting...
Trust me to find this place!
On to Jean de Merry, where I met the man himself. We just signed JDM up at D&D so it was great to talk him through what we are working on, and to see all his pieces in one place. I visited the NYC showroom last week in the design building but to see the original store was a real treat...
Now, another really really long walk (add 30 minutes because of course I got lost) and I found myself at the Pacific Design Centre, and I thought the New York D&D building was big...
But it was totally worth it, as I found some real treasures, and in particular found some pieces of furniture that I had been looking for in Ralph Pucci that David Collins has used in some of his hotels...
Onto the Melrose Project, a curated space full of amazing antique finds, as recommended by Jean de Merry...
I was so pleased to pass by Jasper. This is Michael S Smith's brand, which also housed the Vaughan collection of lighting.
Back to my hotel to check out, and after stopping by The Grove, on to my next hotel, The Viceroy Santa Monica, my first hotel where I was greeted with a glass of champagne, yums...
I think I got an upgrade without realising it because I didn't expect a room like this! With a view like this...
Huge bathroom...
Impressive selection of goodies here, don't be fooled though, you touch you pay...
The corridor outside my room, with a rather special PVC seat!
Through to the lift...
The lobby...
The hotel has the most amazing courtyard, with heaters so you can sit here for dinner too...
I'm sat in one of those cabanas now as I type this...
This is Whist, where I ate last night, amazing amazing food...
I then did something I have always wanted to do (Something about being British and watching too much OC, but...)
Hello Santa Monica Beach...
Little did I realise my hotel was about a 30 second walk from Shutters on the Beach, a hotel I have always wanted to visit...
I honestly didn't think Zoltar existed!!! (BIG?!!)
Sunset from the beach, and then I walked back to Shutters for a glass of wine. Dinner at Whist then bed time for me...
I am going to have more of a relaxing day tomorrow, after my meeting that I arranged with Shutters, but I still have one final day and night in LA, and on to the Roosevelt Hotel I shall go for my final stop....
Next stop, Hollywood...
